CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) Organizers of this year’s annual Stuff the Bus school supply collection drive are thanking the sponsors, volunteers and the community saying the event was a huge success. Stuff the Bus was held over the weekend at Walmart locations in Clarksville.
Abby Binkley, Executive Director of the Clarksville-Montgomery County Education Foundation thanked the community for their help. “We appreciate the people for coming out and supporting teachers and students this weekend. We collected supplies that teachers in the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System (CMCSS) will have access to all year at the Teacher Warehouse,” said Binkley.
All of the supplies donated will go to the school system’s Teacher warehouse. Teachers are assigned points they can use to pick up school supplies which will help supplement the items they already have. Some of the supplies will got o students whose families can’t afford to buy their supplies.
Officials say many teachers spend money out of their own pockets to keep up with supplies in the classroom. Money donated to Stuff the Bus will go towards the purchase of more needed school supplies for Teacher Warehouse.
This was the first Stuff the Bus event for Millard House the new Director of Schools who came to the event both days and made his own donation of school supplies. “It epitomizes what we see here in Clarksville-Montgomery County of people who care and people who truly understand what our education system needs. I’m inspired by what I see,” said House.
