CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) With a “Grease” theme, the Clarksville Sunset Rotary Club held a 50’s Sock-Hop Saturday at the Pinnacle Family Entertainment Center. The event included included silent and live auctions, trivia contests, prizes, as well as a lot of people dressed in 50’s outfits dancing to music from the era.
Sunset Rotary takes money raised from events like the Sock-Hop and uses it for projects around the community. One such project is the planned Rotary Miracle Field at Civitan Park, which will be a site with an adaptive rubberized ball field for kids with disabilities.
Rotary is also working with Music City Trikes out of Nashville that builds adaptive bicycles for both children and adults with disabilities who can’t ride a regular bicycle. The club plans to buy 80 of the special bikes for families that have been identified in Clarksville-Montgomery County.
Other charities in the community also benefit from the work of Rotary such as Urban Ministries Safehouse.
