CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) There was a lot of excitement in the air Saturday at the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System (CMCSS) and Wyatt Johnson Pass and Go event. It was especially exciting for one student. Triston Johnson, who won a new car.

Johnson, who will be a senior this year at Rossview High School, had the lucky key that started the vehicle on the showroom floor at Wyatt Johnson. Now Johnson will get his choice of one of three cars, a Hyundai Veloster, Toyota Yaris or a Kia Rio from Wyatt Johnson.

It was hard for Johnson to contain his excitement as he talked about winning the new car. “When I first came here today I thought this wasn’t going to happen I might win something small. I’m just going to have fun. I’m just really excited because I got the car, it’s like it’s a first, I did this,” said Johnson.

Managing Partner at Wyatt Johnson, Bill Powers, talked about Wyatt Johnson’s part in Pass and Go. “We’ve always wanted to partner in education with the community and this is the best way we could find to do so. It’s been a great program, we look forward to doing it in the future, and today was just the culmination of good students doing great work and being rewarded as a result,” Powers said.

The Pass and Go program is operated through the Clarksville-Montgomery County Education Foundation and has been recognized with a national award naming CMCSS a “District of Distinction.”

A total of 645 students passed 971 Advanced Placement (AP) exams in May to qualify for Pass and Go and several hundred turned out Saturday at Wyatt Johnson to win prizes like laptop computers, gas cards, and Domino’s pizza cards from the local Domino’s franchise and for a chance to win new car.
