Fort Campbell, KY. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) Monday night, 176 soldiers with the 101st Combat Aviation Brigade (CAB) were welcomed home to Fort Campbell after their nine-month deployment to Afghanistan.
During their deployment, the “Task Force Destiny” soldiers provided aviation support to U.S. coalition and Afghan forces throughout the Combined Joint Operations in Afghanistan.
They logged over 50,000 flight hours, transported more than seven million pounds of cargo and 91,000 passengers. The soldiers also conducted 1,700 security missions and 256 air assault operations.
Calling the 101st soldiers American heroes, Deputy Commanding General for Support, Brigadier General Todd Royar said, “We’re honored to have you home and we’re honored to have you as part of this great division.”
Another flight of Screaming Eagle soldiers are scheduled to return from deployment on Friday.
