FORT CAMPBELL, Ky. (CLARKSVILLENOW) ) Thursday was full of smiles and hugs as 143 soldiers returned home from a nine-month deployment to Kuwait.
The soldiers serve with the 594th Transportation Company, 129th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, 101st Sustainment Brigade of the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault).
Captain Andrew Nowak expressed his excitement about being home. “It feels great, it’s been a long time coming, we did a great job, I couldn’t be more proud of our troops and I’m just glad everyone made it home safe,” said Nowak.
Nowak’s wife Emily, shared her husband’s feelings. “It’s crazy, it just feels surreal right now but he’s really here,” Nowak said.
While deployed in support of Operation Spartan Shield and Operation Inherent Resolve, the “Lifeliner” soldiers provided transportation of supplies and equipment throughout Kuwait in support of U.S. forces.
The soldiers carried out more than 600 transportation movements, totaling over 550,000 miles driven, executed 14 port debarkation missions, and transported hundreds of containers to supply points throughout Kuwait.
