CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office held its 6th Annual Chili Cook-Off Friday at the Public Service Complex.
There were a dozen entries in the contest from sheriff’s deputies, members of the sheriff’s office staff and Montgomery County Government staff. Each chili was judged on different criteria such as aroma, color and of course taste.
First place went to Patrick Jackson from the Information Technology Office. The 2nd place winner was Kelly Boone with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and 3rd place went to Jesse Reynolds from the sheriff’s office. There was also a People’s Choice award, which went to Ron Farley.
Along with bragging rights, ladles are presented to each of the winners with 1st place taking a golden ladle, 2nd place a silver ladle, and 3rd place a bronze ladle.
Each year the event serves as a fundraiser for local nonprofits with donations taken at the door. This year $200 was collected for YAIPaks of Clarksville. The organization reaches out and provides support for homeless in Clarksville-Montgomery County and surrounding areas.
Judges for the chili cook-off were Montgomery County Mayor Jim Durrett, Emergency Medical Service Director Jimmie Edwards, Emergency Management Director Ed Baggett, and Lee Erwin from ClarksvilleNow.com/5 Star Media Group.
