CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Most students of the graduating class of 2020 aren’t able to hold their diplomas high after shaking hands with their principal. Clarksville McDonald’s owner-operator Emily Ellis decided that a celebration was in order.
Ellis hosted a graduation parade for 13 graduating McDonald’s crew members at their Sango Road location. There were actually 23 graduates that work at McDonald’s on Sango Rd. and Madison St. in Clarksville as well as Springfield, Tennessee but not all were able to attend the celebration.
“We are celebrating our seniors to share in this excitement and celebration with our team members because this class is resilient, they’re hard working and they’ve tackled everything that’s been thrown at them thus far so they’re going to do amazing things in life, and we’re very proud of them,” said Ellis.
The students came from Montgomery Central, Rossview, Clarksville, West Creek, Kenwood, and Springfield High Schools. Austin Peay State University graduates were also recognized.
Participants practiced social distancing as they stood in the parking lot, their names, schools and future plans were announced followed by their parents, family and friends driving by honking, waving and cheering.
Each graduate received a photo and gifts from McDonald’s.
One graduate, Shawn Atoigue, has worked at McDonalds for the past two years. “It feels nostalgic, It’s like I’m back in school but it feels amazing. I’m happy for everyone who graduated from whatever school they came from. It’s been a fun experience,” said Atoigue.
