CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – The Clarksville Housing Authority hosted a food distribution event for housing residents on Wednesday, December 19, at Edgefield Missionary Baptist Church. Each of the close to 100 boxes contained nonperishable food items as well as a turkey and a dozen eggs.
Churches and volunteer groups that joined with Edgefield include St. Bethlehem and Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Churches and the Cumberland River South Kentucky/Middle Tennessee Baptist District Association.
Executive Director of The Clarksville Housing Authority, Patricia Tyus, said she was excited about the churches being a part of the food drive.
“A group of Missionary Baptist Churches came to the housing authority wanting to partner with us to give away food gift boxes to our residents. We worked as a team and they are blessing the families with food for Christmas,” said Tyus.
The pastor of Edgefield Missionary Baptist Church, Brian Webster, said the Lord placed it upon his heart to do what they could for those who may be in need during the holiday season. Webster thanked Walmart, Lowes and Dollar General Market on Madison Street for their support
