CLARKSVILLE, Tenn (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Family, friends and comrades welcomed home 299 soldiers early Monday morning, September 16. They return from a nine-month deployment to Iraq, Syria and Kuwait.
The soldiers, serving in Operation Inherent Resolve, are part of the 1st Brigade Combat Team (Bastogne) of the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault).
“It’s euphoria is all I can explain. Coming home to see family members, my own, and watching other people see their family members for the first time in nine-months, we’re higher than the moon right now,” said Colonel Hugh Sollom said.
Sollom added that it was very gratifying, knowing the mission we accomplished, the hard work all the soldiers in the battalion and the brigade executed and then to come home to loved ones who were back here supporting us.
Another flight carrying 1st Brigade soldiers is scheduled to return to Fort Campbell later this week.
