CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) Clarksville Domino’s on Highway 48 partnered with Clarksville Fire Rescue (CFR), and the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) to promote fire safety during Fire Prevention Week. Thursday randomly selected people, who ordered a Domino’s pizza, were surprised when a fire truck with Firefighters arrived along with their pizza.

The fire safety part of the delivery came when Firefighters checked the smoke alarms in the home. If the smoke alarms worked, the pizza was free. If the smoke alarms were not working, the firefighters installed fully-functioning alarms or replaced the batteries.

“Fire safety is extremely important,” said Antonio Murgas, Clarksville Domino’s franchise owner. “We’re excited to partner with the NFPA and Clarksville Fire Rescue for a program that not only promotes the safety of our friends and neighbors but rewards those who make fire safety a priority.”

Donna Sebree and her family were one of the first to get free pizza Thursday after her home was checked by firefighters who found all of the smoke alarms in the home in working order.

“I just really think it’s an awesome thing to give back to the community sometimes,” Sebree said. “A lot of people need to be reached out to in that manner.”

Clarksville Fire Rescue Chief Freddie Montgomery was on hand to help check smoke alarms in the home.

“It’s a great thing that we’re doing just to emphasize to people that smoke detectors save lives and it’s helping us with our fire prevention month,” Montgomery said. “It’s just a great partnership.”

Fire Prevention Week is October 6-12. The fire safety pizza delivery with Domino’s and Clarksville Fire Rescue will continue Friday, October 11 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. from Domino’s on Highway 48.
