CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – The City of Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department offers a wide range of events throughout the year and one of the many activities families look forward to each year is A Day in the Park.

This year the event was held on Saturday, April 28 at Liberty Park.

The entire park was alive with laughter and happy sounds from hundreds of families and individuals enjoying a pleasant spring day. There were giveaways, games, and BCycle activities, along with food vendors. From the Parks and Recs personnel, children and adults were able to learn about the wide variety of spring and summer events in and around Clarksville, participate in many games, and learn about local history. Residents also brought their own fun by fishing, boating, playing football, biking, kiting, and many other activities.

There is so much to see and do at Liberty Park. Some of the most scenic places to spend time in Clarksville include Liberty Park and Clarksville Marina. Not only were families enjoying the day, but individual photographers came out with their gear to set up along the pond and river.

The activities in the park are almost endless. The park is home to outdoor activities, sports, and a relaxing place to enjoy beautiful sights and fresh air. Liberty Park and Clarksville Marina include a 10-acre fishing pond, a community-built playground, a 1.8-mile walking trail, sports fields, a dog park, four-lane boat ramp into the Cumberland River, as well as four pavilions for activities like picnics, barbecues and other gatherings. Guests can also round out their day by enjoying lunch or dinner at the Liberty Park Grill, a casual American family restaurant.

One couple enjoying the day at the park with their son was Mirna Morell and Glenn Box. Both raved about the activities available at Liberty Park and how well it is maintained.

“It was a glorious day of family events. A great day for everything. My son says it his greatest day ever,” Box said. “All the wonderful rain gave us the nice soft grass for the children to play on and plenty of water for the families to fish in.”
