CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – The Clarksville Rotary Club held its annual Paul Harris Fellow Luncheon and Awards Ceremony Wednesday, June 24, recognizing Rotarians for their outstanding service to the club and the community.

A number of club members were honored with Paul Harris Fellow awards.  Paul Harris was the founder of Rotary and the Clarksville Rotary Club recognizes Rotarians and friends who elect to contribute $1,000 or more each year to The Rotary Foundation.

For reporting on many of the Rotary club’s events and activities, Lee Erwin with 5 Star Media Group was also recognized as an honorary Paul Harris Fellow.

Presidential Awards were given by the outgoing Clarksville Rotary Club President, Jane Ondocin.

Those members receiving Distinguished Service Awards were Betty Burchett, Rich Holladay, Cheryl Lankford, Ron Struble, and Melanie Thompson.

The club presented Cheryl Moss with a donation to her charity of choice, the Humane Society – Spay it Forward program, for arranging the Program of the Year featuring Lucas Chambers with his photos of Africa.

John Butler was recognized as Rotarian of the Year and Chris Buerck received the Rotary Rising Star honor.

Rotary District 6760 Governor, Robert Huffman, a member of the local Sunrise Rotary Club, was also honored for his Service Above Self to Rotary and the community.

On a humorous note, the Rotary club recognized several members with a Bald or Soon to be Bald Award.  Recipients were Carter Briggs, Larry Krieg, Roger Pile, Steve Springer, Ron Struble, and John Wallace.

The new officers for the Clarksville Rotary Club were also inducted by Huffman along with Pam Powell who was inducted to the Clarksville Rotary Board as President-Elect.

The last item on the agenda for the meeting was Rotary District Governor Huffman to induct Kimberly Wiggins as the new 2020/21 President of the Clarksville Rotary Club.  The gavel of leadership was passed to Wiggins by Ondocin.

The Clarksville Rotary Club hosted two major fundraisers during their 2019/20 year:  The Old Time Fiddlers Championship, chaired by Tad Bourne and the Valor Run 10k/5k by Cheryl Moss. Proceeds from the club’s fundraisers benefit Rotary projects to include Rotary International’s PolioPlus and the Rotary Field of Dreams at Civitan Park.
