CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) Clarksville’s annual Independence Day Celebration went off with a bang, a big bang, as hundreds of people filled Liberty Park for food, fun, music, games, and of course fireworks. There was talk of rain throughout the evening as folks kept an eye on their phones looking at the radar. But with the exception of just a few occasional drops, the rain never happened.

The concert, featuring a number of local bands was moved inside the Wilma Rudolph Event Center, just in case of rain, but the Great Lawn of the park was packed with people kicked back enjoying the evening and of course the kids, doing what kids are supposed to do, having fun.

Just before the fireworks, Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan announced that country artist Chris Janson will headline Riverfest and perform Saturday, September 9 at 9:15 p.m. Riverfest is Clarksville’s longest running community festival and is celebrating its 30th year.
