FORT CAMPBELL, Ky. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) Family, friends and comrades filled Hanger 3 at Campbell Army Airfield late Monday night to welcome 217 soldiers with the 1st Brigade Combat Team (BCT) returning from a nine-month deployment to Iraq and Syria.
The Bastogne troops with the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) were serving in Operation Inherent Resolve. Specialist Merian Kenney was asked about what it felt like to be home. “It feels great, it’s wonderful to be back home where I feel most comfortable. I’m back with my husband and i’m just happy to be here,” Kenny said.
More 1st Brigade soldiers are scheduled to return from deployment over the weekend.
