CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – With this year’s racing theme, local bankers raised $19,272 for Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) of Clarksville during the 2019 Bankers’ Challenge Bowl For Kids’ Sake Tuesday.

Employees from seven financial institutions in Clarksville came together to support youth in the community by donating to BBBS, a mentoring nonprofit that pairs youth facing adversity with adults who are there to ignite their potential and show them how to reach further to achieve more in life.

F&M Bank employees took the checkered flag in fundraising. Their nine teams brought in more than $11,000 for the local nonprofit. The F&M Sango branch captured the trophy for highest fundraising team with $3,053.

The Bankers’ Challenge also welcomed bowlers from US Bank, Altra Federal Credit Union, Fortera Credit Union, Planters Bank, Heritage Bank and Cumberland Bank & Trust for a night of bowling and generosity.

“Each of these institutions has paved the way for a child to realize his potential and strive for a brighter future,” said Chris Buerck, executive director of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Clarksville.

“The enthusiasm and support from our area banks prove they are not just buildings in this community, they are truly building this community.”

Fortera Credit Union took their place on the podium, winning the “Most Manpower” award for being the bank with the most employees who volunteer as Big Brothers or Big Sisters to children in the program.

US Bank also took home a trophy for best score with two people reaching a 182. But it’s not about the bowling, it’s about supporting the children.

Brothers Big Sisters currently supports 55 children in the Montgomery County community. The agency has a goal to serve 100 children in 2019. The Bankers’ Challenge will fully fund 19 new matches, ensuring that 19 children have positive, steady role models in their lives. BBBS is a free service and provides its mentoring program to families and volunteers at no charge.

Fundraisers like Bowl For Kids’ Sake help the nonprofit continue to support children in Clarksville and Montgomery County.

Big Brothers Big Sisters will host their community Bowl for Kid’s Sake with the racing theme, Saturday, April 6 at the Pinnacle. You can create a team with family, friends, coworkers or sign up as an individual bowler to be put on a team.
