CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) Austin Peay State University and F&M Bank hosted a reception Tuesday for current and potential members of the APSU Tower Club. The event, held at the Franklin Room of F&M Bank, drew close to 100 people.
The Tower Club, which was chartered in 1958, was Austin Peay State University’s first private support organization. APSU President Alisa White praised APSU leaders and members of the community at the event for their continued support over the years. White also recognized one of the founders of the Tower Club Ben Kimbrough who attended the reception.
The club says its purpose is to improve the standards of higher educational opportunities by assisting the university along with a desire to make Clarksville-Montgomery County a better place to live.
President White said she considers the Tower Club an opportunity club. “People invest in the university and give us a little bit of money that we can use that’s not tied to a particular program or initiative. It’s an opportunity to do something in a time frame where we don’t have to let those opportunities go by.”
