CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Close to 100 art enthusiasts and supporters of the United Way attended the community’s first ever Art of Giving Saturday hosted by the DBO Gallery.
The evening at the Ruby Cora featured beautiful eclectic art, live music, hors d’oeuvres, and a live auction conducted by Sammy Stuard, President of F&M Bank.
Works of art from Olasubomi Aka-Bashorun, Erin Elise, Stephen Watkins, Omari Booker, Lorenzo Swinton, Ty Christian, Douglas Charlton, James Diehr, Chloe Bennett, Andrea Jacobson, and Justin Gaffey were offered at the event.
Bashorun, the founder of DBO Gallery, who is known locally as Ola, created a painting during the evening of Clarksville’s Rj Corman Railroad Bridge across the Cumberland River which was auctioned off as the last piece of art for the night.
Proceeds from the Art of Giving will benefit the United Way of the Greater Clarksville Region with 50 percent of each auction sale going to support the 30-plus non-profit agency partners of the organization.
“The oldest way of making social change is through art, so we’re an agency that wants to make social change and the best way to demonstrate it is by art,” said Valerie Guzman, Chief Executive Officer.
