NASHVILLE, Tenn. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) Austin Peay State University’s 35th Annual Candlelight Ball broke a record Saturday night with more than 600 supporters attending the event at the Omni Nashville Hotel.
It was a night filled with dining, dancing, a live auction and more to raise funds for scholarships at the university. Each year since 2011 the university has honored two individuals who have supported or brought recognition to Austin Peay.
For 2019 Dr Jeannie Beauchamp received the Wendell H. Gilbert Award and Len Rye was the recipient of the Spirit of Austin Peay Award.
One of the highlights of the evening came when Clarksville Mayor Joe Pitts and Montgomery County Mayor Jim Durrett teamed up to read a proclamation recognizing the leadership and compassion of Austin Peay President Alisa White for not only the university, but also for the community.
