CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) Austin Peay State University’s graduation celebration moved into its second day, and third commencement Saturday, as close to 450 students participated in the ceremony at Austin Peay’s Dunn Center. The undergraduate and graduate students were from the Eriksson College of Education and the College of Arts and Letters.

District 67 State Representative Jason Hodges, a graduate of APSU, was the commencement speaker. APSU is Tennessee’s fastest-growing public university and this is the first year that graduation was expanded to two days with three ceremonies involving more than 1,200 students.

One of the highlights after the commencement was Benjamin Hickson’s marriage proposal to Mackenzie Kelly. Kelly, who had just graduated moments earlier, said yes. She is from Murfreesboro, Hickson is from Lebanon and they met at the university while performing in Austin Peay’s Marching Band.
