CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Clarksville-Montgomery County Schools held their annual 8th Grade Career Exploration Day Wednesday, which is scheduled to also take place on Thursday at the Wilma Rudolph Event Center.
Around 2,900 eighth graders from local schools had the opportunity to meet with representatives of around 50 local businesses and organizations to offer them a vision of possibilities for their future.
Brenda Scarborough, CTE Career Counselor with the Instruction and Curriculum Department of the school system talked about the event. “The goal of the day is to help the students make a connection to the high school classes and what career they want to end up in. To make a connection to a teacher, the high school students that are here, to help avoid that drop out that happens between their eighth and ninth grade years,” said Scarborough.
