Fort Campbell, KY. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) The 3rd Brigade Combat Team along with soldiers family and friends welcomed home 292 “Rakkasans” Thursday upon their return to Fort Campbell from a nine-month deployment to Afghanistan. With construction work taking place at Campbell Army Airfield, the soldiers flew into Nashville earlier in the day and traveled by bus to Fort Campbell.

Colonel Bryan Schott talked about coming home from deployment. “This ones extra special, this is the first time I’ve been away without the kids. Coming back in and getting to see their faces and moms face is really, really special, said Schott.

The Rakkasans main focus for their train, advise, and assist mission was to strengthen the Afghan Army, Police and Security Forces.
