FORT CAMPBELL, KY. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) Early Thursday morning a flight touched down at Fort Campbell carrying 173 soldiers with the 101st Combat Aviation Brigade (CAB) back from their nine-month deployment to Afghanistan.
The 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) troops were in Afghanistan providing aviation support to U.S. coalition and Afghan forces. Task Force Destiny exceeded 50,000 flight hours, transporting over seven million pounds of cargo and 91,000 passengers along with 1,700 security missions and 256 air assault operations.
Two more Welcome Home Ceremonies are scheduled next week bringing 101 CAB soldiers home from Afghanistan.
