FORT CAMPBELL, KY. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) It was a busy Thursday night at Fort Campbell as 150 soldiers returned from their nine-month deployment to Afghanistan.

The troops are part of the 101st Sustainment Brigade “Lifeliners” of the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault). While deployed they served as the 101st Resolute Support Sustainment Brigade and provided logistical support to U.S. coalition and Afghan forces.

Major Jeremiah Jones returned Thursday and was met by his father, Jerry, a retired Army Veteran and said it was wonderful to be home. “I’m so glad he was here cheering me on the entire time. It got hard sometimes and he was like, hey son just keep going, I’ve been there done that, so you got this,” said Jones.

Jerry Jones drove down from St. Louis to be part of the welcome home ceremony and said he was very proud of his son and it was a blessing to have him and all of the troops back home with their families.

Another 173 soldiers with the 101st Combat Aviation Brigade were scheduled to come home early Friday morning and two more Welcome Home Ceremonies are planned next week as more Screaming Eagles return from deployment.
