FORT CAMPBELL, Ky. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) 109 soldiers with the 101st Combat Aviation Brigade (CAB), 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) returned to Fort Campbell late Tuesday night.
The soldiers were deployed to Afghanistan for nearly six months.
The majority of the 101 CAB will remain overseas for several more months, providing world-class aviation support to U.S. Forces in Afghanistan. The soldiers returned for administrative reasons such as retirement, schools and training, or moving into new positions within Fort Campbell and the Army.
One of the soldiers, Lieutenant Matthew Rinaudo, was happy to see his wife Veronica and for only the second time, his baby daughter Lavinia. “It feels pretty unreal right now but I’m very excited too. Very exciting for all of us, I think everybody’s glad to be home with family,” Rinaudo said.
