CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – A 23-year-old Fort Campbell soldier was struck and killed on Interstate 24 in Clarksville late Sunday night.
According to Tennessee Highway Patrol, Tyler Wilsdorf, of Dadesville, Alabama was hit in the eastbound lanes of I-24 at mile marker 6, not far from Wilma Rudolph Boulevard, around 11:45 p.m.
According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, Wilsdorf was a passenger in a car that got stuck in the median. THP said he was lost and had attempted a U-turn. He got out of the car in an attempt to flag down help and was hit.
Wilsdorf died at the scene.
Neither the driver who hit Wilsdorf nor his three passengers were injured, and no criminal charges were filed.
I-24 East was closed for almost three hours while officers investigated. The interstate has since reopened.
