Update, 9:35 p.m.: The man police were seeking as a “person of interest” turned himself in and has been cleared of involvement.

Investigators are looking for a four-door car with damage to the passenger side front headlight area, according to Detective Mike Patterson.

Update, 4:30 p.m.: Clarksville Police are asking for help identifying a “person of interest” who may have vital information about the wreck. Investigators are obtaining surveillance video from businesses in and around the area. CPD provided this photo:

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – A Clarksville man was killed in a hit-and-run wreck late Thursday night in New Providence.

At about 11 p.m., Lilburn L. Evitts, 77, was on the 500 block of Providence Boulevard, between Oak Street and Plum Street, when he was hit by a vehicle that then left the scene, according to Clarksville Police Detective Mike Patterson.

Evitts’ name was confirmed to ClarksvilleNow by his family.

No description of the vehicle or driver was available Friday morning.
