CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) A pedestrian was killed Saturday at the 101st Airborne Division Parkway and Whitfield Rd.
According to Clarksville police, the victim was attempting to cross the road at around 11 p.m. Saturday when she was struck by a sport utility vehicle driven by 45-year-old Jose Alvarado Galvez.
Police say the traffic signal for the eastbound traffic was green but, the pedestrian continued into the eastbound lanes and was struck.
The woman’s name was not released. Investigators say she was wearing all dark clothing and a dark colored backpack and there was light rain/drizzle at the time of the incident.
Galvez was charged with Driving on a Suspended License and No Proof of Insurance. His bond was set at $5000.
