CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – An officer with the Clarksville Police Department discovered an unresponsive person in the roadway Friday around 9:18 p.m. on Tiny Town Rd. near Twelve Oaks Blvd.

Police determined the pedestrian, 18-year-old DaShawna Saunders of Clarksville, was the victim of a hit and run and was transported by Lifeflight to Vanderbilt Medical Center. She is currently in stable condition and is expected to recover from her injuries.

Witnesses said Saunders walked into traffic from the south side of Tiny Town Rd. towards the north side of the roadway and was struck by an unknown vehicle.

The driver fled the scene. A vehicle behind it that was changing lanes at the time also left the scene without providing any information.

The vehicle that struck the pedestrian has not been located, but is described as a dark-colored van or SUV with heavy front-end damage.
