CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Saturday, March 4, at the state VEX competition Clarksville Patriot Robotics, team 405, had another huge success.
They won Excellence, which is the highest award you can receive at any competition. Now with the state champion title, they are heading to the Worlds Championship in Louisville, Kentucky on April 19-23. There the team will compete with 540 other high school teams from Australia to Zambia at a shot to be world champions.
In addition, since they won Excellence early on in the season, team 405 was able to secure a spot at the CREATE US Open tournament in Council Bluffs, Iowa where they will compete against 200 of the top teams from around the nation for a shot to be national champions. They will also be the only team there to represent Tennessee, as well as, the first team to represent Tennessee for the first time in several years.
This team, was especially recognized for their extraordinary community outreach program and their impact they have had on the community for future generations. They qualified two of the other Clarksville teams that went to state, Kenwood High and Northeast Middle. Northeast High qualified on their own robot skills scores performance. This achievement for Northeast High and Middle, as well as, Kenwood High earned the schools teams enough popularity for the district to fund them and get new team shirts and VEX fields, which they can practice on for years to come.
Also at the state championship, team Kenwood Knights Sword, 98706K, won the Judges award. This is in recognition of a new program and their efforts.
