KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A Celebration of Life service to honor the legendary Lady Vols Coach Pat Summitt will be held in Knoxville on Thursday.

The free event will take place at Thompson-Boling Arena at 6 p.m. CST.

That’s where Summitt won many of the games that made her the winningest coach in Division I college basketball history. The court is named “The Summitt.”

The event will be streamed on News 2, ESPN2 and the SEC Network.

Legendary Lady Vols Head Coach Emeritus Pat Summitt’s career as the winningest coach in college basketball history spanned nearly four decades and earned her a reputation as one of the toughest coaches of either a men’s or women’s team.

Summitt was born Patricia Sue Head in 1952 in Clarksville, Tennessee. Her family moved to nearby Henrietta when she was in high school so she could play basketball.
