CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to spread during the July 4th weekend, Clarksville’s Parks & Recreation Department stepped up to ensure this Independence Day holiday was still a safe and enjoyable one.
While traditional fireworks celebrations were unable to safely take place, families were invited to attend a variety of programs, including arts, crafts, and (non) cooking lessons. All of these programs took place with social distancing measures in place, with staff wearing masks and tables spread apart to encourage proper distancing guidelines.
Thursday’s program offered participants a non-cooking class, where families had all the ingredients ready to go in individually wrapped baggies to prepare seasonal snacks and treats. Each group received a goodie bag with kitchen tools, recipe cards, and other gifts from the Madison Street Kroger, who sponsored the event.
On Friday, the Kleeman Recreation Center hosted a Fourth of July Tie-Dye program where participants were guided through the process of tie-dying T-Shirts. Materials were provided by both the Parks & Rec department and ArtLink, and those who took part got to pick from four different designs featuring Independence Day designs.
