CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – ESPN Clarksville and Bojangles are recognizing Almantas Ozelis as the Bojangles APSU Athlete of the Week from Austin Peay State University. Along with the Bojangles title, Ozelis, freshman on the men’s tennis team also received Ohio Valley Conference Player (OVC) of the Week honors.
Ozelis, of Marijampole, Lithuania, went 6-0 overall on the week – singles and doubles combined – as the Governors claimed wins over Murray State, Tennessee State and Belmont to extend the team’s OVC winning streak to five.
Two of his three wins last week were three-set thrillers as Ozelis battled to defeat Murray State’s Will True, 6-2, 3-6, 6-1, and Belmont’s Robin Demasse, 6-3, 3-6, 6-2. Between the two contests, Ozelis knocked off TSU’s 7-6(3), 6-3.
But arguably more impressive has been his doubles play alongside sophomore Aleh Drobysh. With three wins at the No. 2 slot last week, the tandem has now won eight consecutive matches, seven of which coming in OVC Play.
Congratulations to Almantas Ozelis, our ESPN Clarksville, Bojangles APSU Athlete of the Week
