CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The Humane Society of Clarksville-Montgomery County recently used its official Facebook page to bring attention to a local animal rescue that is being shut down unexpectedly, resulting in over 50 animals now in need of shelter before April 6.
The elderly couple currently operating the rescue will soon be moving out of state and are only able to take about a dozen of the animals with them.
The Humane Society currently has an album on their Facebook page showing some of the dogs and cats “in desperate need of rescue pulls, fosters, or adopters.” There are approximately 25 dogs and 50 cats in need of homes, and no small dogs or puppies and kittens less than 6 months old are available. The Humane Society is updating and adding to the album as pets are adopted and added.
All dogs have been spayed-neutered and have been worked with at the rescue. They are described as being personable with people and other animals. All dogs have been receiving ivermectin monthly to ward off heartworms and other diseases.
Most of the male cats have been fixed with the exception of a couple of the younger ones. Many of the females have been fixed, though it is not clear which ones. There are at least 20 cats that need to be fixed.
The Humane Society is asking for the public to share the album of photos with any rescue or individual able to help with these pets or with any specific breeds, even if not pictured. Email humanesociety@clarksville.com with details.
Financial assistance is also appreciated to ensure all remaining cats are spayed-neutered as soon as possible. The Humane Society has already provided six vouchers to spayed-neuter some of the dogs.
