CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) Early voting for the District 22 Tennessee State Senate seat primary has ended with 4,254 people casting ballots in early voting.

Including absentee ballots, the total stands at 4,362 ballots cast, according to Montgomery County Administrator of Elections Elizabeth Black.

On March 7, special primaries will be held for both political parties with the general election set for April 23. Voters are deciding the primary candidates for the District 22 Senate seat vacated by Mark Green, who won a seat to congress last November.

Candidates include Republicans Betty Burchett, Jeff Burkhart, Jason Knight, Bill Powers and Democrat Juanita Charles whose names will appear on the March 7 Primary ballot, with Independent candidates Doyle Clark and David Cutting only appearing on the April 23 General Election ballot.

Registered voters in Montgomery County will vote at their designated polling places on the day of the primary, March 7, and on Election Day, April 23. Tennesseans should remember to bring valid photo identification with them to the polls.

A driver’s license or photo ID issued by the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security a or photo ID’s issued Tennessee state or federal government are acceptable even if they are expired. College student ID’s are not acceptable.
