CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) The numbers are in and 36,178 voters cast their ballots in Montgomery County for the November 8 election as early voting wrapped up Thursday in Tennessee. The total number of registered voters in the county is around 111,000.

Montgomery County Administrator of Elections, Vickie Koelman, said that Thursday was their busiest day of early voting with over 3,000 people stopping by the Montgomery County Election Commission office in Veterans Plaza.

Early voting began Oct. 19 and ended Nov. 3.

Election officials say Tennessee has set a record for early and absentee voting. Secretary of State Tre Hargett says almost 1.7 million people voted early in person or by mail, topping the record of almost 1.6 million during the 2008 presidential election.

Koelman said you can no longer vote at the election commission office, and voters must wait to cast their vote until Tuesday. She added her office can help voters find out where they need to go to vote and they can help get all of your voting information updated for you.

On Election Day, Tuesday, November 8, the polls will be open from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. at the 29 polling locations throughout Montgomery County.
