CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Rewind 94.3 concluded its successful coat drive Saturday at the Salvation Army in Clarksville.
According to organizer CC Carmack, at least 1,000 of the more than 1,200 donated winter coats were passed out to those in need.
“We’d like to thank the community for stepping up during a time of need to help others,” said Katie Gambill, President and General Manager of 5 Star Radio.
Last Tuesday, Rewind 94.3, along with help from the Salvation Army and community volunteers, organized an emergency coat drive in advance of subfreezing temperatures in the area. Extra donations were also collected to ensure a full supply for Saturday.

A few boxes of coats remain, and Carmack plans to distribute them to the homeless shelters in town.
“Because of the generosity of the community we are able to give coats not only to individuals but to different organizations. That means more people get the help they need,” she said.
This is the seventh year 5 Star Radio has hosted a winter coat drive.
