CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Chris Horton, a senior at Austin Peay from Decatur Ga., was named adidas® OVC Players of the Week.
He had a monster week in averaging 32.5 points, 15.0 rebounds, 2.0 steals, 1.0 blocks and 1.0 assists/game and hitting 80.6 percent (29-of-36) from the field in a pair of road games.
The senior had a pair of double-doubles to increase his season total to a Division I best 10. In Sunday’s 92-84 road victory over Lipscomb Horton hit 16-of-17 (94.1%) shots on his way to a career-high 37 points (tied for the most by an OVC player this season). The 16 made field goals are tied for the most made by a Division I player this season. Horton made his first 14 shots in the game as APSU picked up its third road win of the season; he also pulled down 13 rebounds and blocked a shot. He opened the week with 28 points (which at the time was a career-high) on 13-of-19 shooting at North Florida; Horton also had 17 rebounds and three steals in that contest. Horton currently ranks first nationally in offensive rebounds (5.92/game) and second in total rebounds (13.5/game).
