CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The 2nd Outdoor Bible Reading Marathon from the Clarksville Area Ministerial Association began Monday, May 2 at First Baptist Church. The event started at noon and is scheduled to go non-stop through Thursday, May 5 at noon.

The Bible reading was to have opened on a small stage at the corner of University Avenue and Commerce Street, but because of the rainy weather the reading opened inside First Baptist Church and is expected to be moved back outside once the weather clears.

Volunteers will read 66 books and two testaments of the Bible from Genesis to Revelations. There will be 288 individual 15 minute Bible reading segments which will lead up to the National Day of Prayer on May 5.

On Saturday, May 7 there are two gatherings for prayer planned. The first is a prayer breakfast at the YMCA, 260 Hillcrest Drive starting at 6:30 a.m. The second is at noon on the corner of University Ave. and Commerce St. It will feature times of prayer for elected officials, first responders, military, schools, non-profits, and local churches.
