CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The coldest air of the season has arrived and city officials in Clarksville are trying to get homeless residents off the streets.

“We have established partnerships with multiple organizations to provide shelter to men, women and families who are homeless,” said Mayor Kim McMillan in a press release.

The Mayor has also asked the Clarksville Police Department to assist by making sure that anyone they see who may need assistance knows where to find it. Available facilities include:

• The Old Fire House Day Shelter on Golf Club Lane

• The Manna Refuge on Frosty Morn Drive, which is extending its emergency warming shelter until Thursday, November 20 at 8:00 a.m. Volunteers (18 and older) are needed to assist in manning the shelter. Sign up for a four-hour shift on the Manna Café website.

• The Salvation Army on Kraft Street

In addition to a place in the existing shelters during the next couple of nights, Buffalo Valley is operating a temporary warming shelter at 719 Central Avenue. Call 931-645-9038 (daytime) or 931-206-7608 (after hours) for information.

“I am also encouraging anyone who is homeless and needs assistance to contact the Old Fire House Day Shelter. The staff there can help identify all the existing programs that can offer help for a myriad of situations,” said Mayor McMillan.
