Recently I’ve noticed news and commentary concerning yet another fee and registration (as if we don’t have enough already).
This time the fee and registration will be for owning dogs and cats. The argument for this “Poochie licensing” is the same as usual: “That’s the way it’s done up North.” “Nashville does it.” “We’re the fifth largest city in Tennessee and our leaders are not with the times.” “If only everyone would register everything to the government and pay a small fee we could cure so many problems.”

I have a question, how much is enough? How much of our lives, money, and freedom should we register with government? For some it seems no amount will ever be enough. Should I have to pay a fee for asking?
We live in a time of registration for everything even yard sales. We have to register and pay a fee for political signs on our OWN commercial property! Yes, a First Amendment fee! If you own a gun, car, camper, boat, business, hunt, fish and on and on, you have to get permission and register with some bureaucrat in government. This is all called progressive and moving forward.
Soon there will also be a vote on a TIF that will give “tax dollars” away to downtown property owners.
Our forefathers were not for a big and intrusive government. But for today’s media and statist big government is
approved, promoted and desired. The media praises the tax and spenders as though buying things is a rare talent.
But anyone can spend, just go to the mall and watch a teenager with a credit card. Ask your representatives to stop giving money away and stop big government tax and fees.
