Here’s a riddle for anyone who believes that a homeless shelter is not worth fighting for:
All four of these men have been vital to Manna Café, spending countless hours unloading trucks, manning food drives, lifting heavy loads, and/or moving pallets full of food.
One of these men has a reputation for smiling from daylight till dark, even on his bad days. One of them can cook a meal for 300 people with a just a few hours’ notice. One recently gave a hard-earned hundred-dollar bill to Manna Café with the directive, “You’ve blessed me, now bless someone else.” One has crazy skills when it comes to fixing anything with wheels or other moving parts. All four have been sought out for various tasks because of their excellent work ethic.
All four know what the inside of a jail cell looks like.
All four have been guilty of substance and alcohol abuse.
All four are periodically tormented by their demons.
All four have been, or are, homeless.
Here’s the riddle:
Which one’s not worth saving? Which one will never amount to anything? Which one doesn’t deserve to have a roof over his head when he’s struggling?
