CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW)- The 22nd annual “On Wings of Love” Remembering Our Homicide Victims ceremony will be held tonight, Wednesday, December 4 at The Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library.
The annual event, hosted by the District Attorney’s Office, is held each year to honor those who have lost their lives by violence and homicide. This year’s event will begin at 5:30 p.m. at the public library located at 350 Pageant Lane.
The “On Wings of Love” ceremony has taken place in Montgomery County for more than two decades. The original founder Susan Marks attended a similar ceremony in Nashville following the death of her 23-year-old son before starting it in Montgomery County. At that event, loved ones of homicide victims make handmade ornaments and hung them on a Christmas tree.
At the Clarksville-Montgomery County “On Wings of Love” event family members speak the name of their loved one and hang an ornament on a tree to remember those who have been murdered this year or in the past.
The guest speaker this year will be Cathy Blakely, the victim service coordinator for the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.
For more information about the event call the District Attorney’s Office at 931-648-5574.
