CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – On-water search efforts will resume today for the 12-year-old boy who went missing on Big West Fork Creek on Sunday.
At about 1:45 p.m. Sunday, a man reported that his son was missing and was last seen at the creek in Billy Dunlop Park, according to previous reports. Over the next few days, Clarksville was battered with heavy rain and thunderstorms, causing on-water search operations to be suspended.
Clarksville Fire Rescue and partner agencies will be back on the water today, said CFR Deputy Chief Jim Eley. “As water conditions continue to evolve, we are expanding efforts downstream with additional watercraft, dive, and K9 capabilities,” he said.
Robert Clark Park and Billy Dunlop Park will remain closed and the public is asked to respect those closures.
“We would like to thank the public for the outpouring of support and tremendous number of volunteers offering assistance. However, for the sake of safety, accountability and maintaining an organized effort, we do ask those volunteers to stay clear of the area. We will reach out to additional agencies and volunteers as those needs arise,” Eley said. “Our hearts and prayers continue to go out to the family of the victim.”
