Open letter to the Clarksville-Montgomery County School Board, on their upcoming vote on a mask mandate:
My name is Jennifer Page Klein, grandmother to four children currently enrolled in the CMCSS.
I sympathize with the current pressure that your position has forced upon you. I’m positive that within your job titles and responsibilities you have not previously faced anything close to the issues at hand that the disunited political climate has dropped in your laps.
I believe that the buck concerning the health of children and the community that has been passed to you, is illogical and unfair. But that’s where it is.
Vote your conscience. The writing is on the wall, and you know what is right. Put all other entanglements and misinformation aside.
Yes there may be consequences. Your position that you worked hard for, may be threatened. You may feel that some or most of your political party may strongly disagree with you. You may lose friends. The other groups you belong to, or the church you attend may not like your vote. These consequences may also extend to your family members, adding undue stress and fallout.
There are other consequences for not voting in truth. You will disgrace your position and person. You will always know that. The pats on the back, from those you feared you would disappoint, will not comfort you. Many lives will be adversely affected by your decision. Some with sickness, some with death.
Will masks prevent all sickness and death? No. Are you willing to look the other way for the additional sickness and deaths that will happen, the same which could have been averted, had you voted in truth?
Many of you may profess to be Christian. Many times in the Bible, God has given men/women tall tasks that seemed overbearing and at odds with the fevered wrongness of the perceived majority. God will always be on truth’s side.
Godspeed to you and yours, Tuesday and following. Prayers and heartfelt thanks for your service and sacrifice to our children and community.
Jennifer Page Klein
