CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) is planning a series of events in recognition of October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

Recent news reports indicate the rate of domestic violence in our nation is rising, and the MCSO hopes these events will raise the profile of legal remedies for victims and their families as well as highlighting the agencies that serve victims in our community and statewide.

The second Annual “Remember My Name” Open Car and Truck Show, sponsored by James Corlew Chevrolet and Cadillac, will benefit Safehouse, a shelter for victims and their families. The event will be held on Saturday, October 10, 8:00 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Civic Hall, Veterans Plaza in the parking lot by the Public Library off Madison Street.

The Silent Witness Project, a powerful and disturbing exhibit reflecting the stories of victims of domestic violence who died as a result of these unspeakable acts, will be on display in the William O. Beach Civic Hall, also located in Veterans Plaza from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Lunch will be provided free for participants, while supplies last. The two flyers to follow explain the events, silent auction and free drawing for a flat screen TV.
