CHARLESTON, SC (CLARKSVILLENOW)—An Austin Peay Governor has again earned national recognition for work on the field. Junior quarterback Jeremiah Oatsvall is one of 40 players to earn a spot on the 2019 College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) FCS National Performer of the Year preseason watch list, released Tuesday, August 13.

Oatsvall enters his junior campaign already in the conversation for greatest signal-caller in Austin Peay history. He ranks first in both all time pass efficiency with 139.9 and yards per pass at 8.1, second in quarterback rushing touchdowns at 12, third in passing touchdowns with 27, completion percentage at 53.8%, yards per completion with 15.1 and quarterback rushing yards at 970. Two more seasons of production near his 2017 OVC Freshman of the Year levels will put several long-held passing marks out of reach.

Oatsvall is one of three Ohio Valley Conference quarterbacks to earn a spot on the CFPA watch list, joined by Jacksonville State’s Zerrick Cooper and Southeast Missouri’s Daniel Santacaterina.

Oatsvall is the first Gov to earn a spot on the CFPA National Performer of the Year preseason watch list, and is the first Gov to be mentioned on any CFPA watch list since Otis Gerron (Freshman Performer of the Year, 2014).

The 2019 CFPA FCS National Performer of the Year Trophy is a 22-inch K-9 optic crystal tower with eight-inch crystal football on top. All FCS players are eligible for the award. The award winner will be announced January 15, 2020.
