CLARKSVILLE, Tenn (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Oak Grove Tourism and Valor Hall have a busy year planned in 2020, with a whole host of events and new attractions to offer the area.

“My number one goal, as it is every year, is to promote and maintain a positive image for Oak Grove, Kentucky as a travel destination,” says Traci Cunningham, Executive Director of Oak Grove Tourism and Valor Hall. “To continue to motivate other cities and communities to participate in and support tourism and its activities.”

The new Oak Grove Racing & Gaming Facility, which began holding races this fall, is scheduled to be completed by July 2020. The facility will have the opportunity to partner with and work alongside Churchill and Keeneland.

“We will make sure Oak Grove will shine on all tourism related events and attractions by encouraging and working with bus/motor coach companies to come to our City,” says Cunningham. “This will be one of my many focuses for the new year.”

This year’s Spring into Summer Salutes Fort Campbell Festival will be in its 13th year! The event has proven to be one of the area’s biggest tourism events.

2020 will also feature the 12th Annual Butterfly Festival. This annual event  is particularly popular with local families and bug experts who travel to Oak Grove to witness the release of over 1,400 live butterflies.

2020 is the year of music for the Kentucky Department of Tourism, for which Oak Grove will be adding “Music Under the Stars” to the calendar. This new summer series will be held at the Viceroy Amphitheater in Oak Grove starting in June and running twice a month, the first and third Friday of the month

Oak Grove Tourism purchased an additional five acres on Walter Garrett Lane in September. “We are still researching and brainstorming tourism attractions as well as potential partnerships,” said Cunningham. “We are so very lucky to have been given the opportunity to purchase the land and are excited for all the possibilities that this gives us.”

Oak Grove Tourism will be part of the Southern Kentucky Film Commission. With a movie and sound stage being built in Hart County, this will entice filmmakers to choose Southern Kentucky for all their filming needs

“We will continue advocating for our military soldiers and their families at Fort Campbell by participating in the yearly Citizens for Fort Campbell Trip.

Valor Hall has what many will consider exciting news. “We have been asked on several occasions if we were bringing back the Murder Mystery Dinner Show event. I am beyond thrilled to say yes, we are,” said Cunningham.

The first show will be held on February 8, 2020 and the theme will be “Best Laid Plans,” an old Hollywood whodunnit. <ore information will be available closer to that date.

Valor Hall has also announced that Oak Grove Tourism will partner with Tried-n-True Pro Wrestling LLC to bring high energy wrestling entertainment to the area. The first main event is scheduled for February 22, 2020 at Valor Hall.
