OAK GROVE, Ky. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – A photo of a dog with its mouth taped shut that has been circulating social media has prompted an investigation by the Oak Grove Police Department.
According to Chief Dennis Cunningham, a concerned citizen contacted the department earlier this week about possible animal abuse and dog fighting.
Animal Control opened an investigation and inspected the dog’s living conditions and well-being.
Police said the pit bull that was in the residence appeared to be the same pit bull that was in the photo, however, the photograph was not taken at the residence where the investigation occurred.
The visit to the residence was not planned and when Animal Control made contact with the dogs, there was no tape around the dogs’ mouths and there was adequate food/water and living conditions. There were no scars consistent with dog fighting and the puppies were in good health.
Anyone with information as to where the photograph was taken is urged to contact their local law enforcement immediately.
