CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Northwest High School’s Lindsay Williams was recently selected to be a member of the Austin Peay State University Dance Team. Lindsay is the first four-year member of the Northwest High School Pom Squad.
Lindsay began her dance career at age 3 and started competing with Dance Force at age 7. Lindsay is a founding member of the Northwest High School Pom Squad, which was created in the fall of 2011. Lindsay has served in a leadership role on the team for three out of her four years as a member.
She held the co-captain role for the 2012-13 dance season, and served as captain during her Junior and Senior year of high school. When asked about her experiences on the Pom Squad, Lindsay replied, “My experiences on the Northwest Pom Squad have been nothing short of amazing. Being able to do what I love while being surrounded by loving friends created memories that I’ll always carry with me.”
In addition to being a member of the Pom Squad, Lindsay has been involved in Science National Honor Society, National Honor Society, Girls Club, Student 2 Student, and the Associated Student Government, for which she served as Student Body Secretary this school year. Although she has been highly involved at Northwest, Lindsay is graduating ranked tenth in her class with a 3.88 GPA. Because of her high GPA and ACT score, Lindsay has been awarded the Hope Scholarship as well as the Austin Peay State University Presidential Scholarship.
NWHS Pom Squad Coach, Jessica Peppard, stated, “I am thankful to have had the opportunity to coach Lindsay. She is an extremely talented dancer, but more importantly, she is a leader and a role model for her peers. She demonstrates what it means to be a student-athlete because she strives for excellence in the classroom and during performances. She has made a lasting impression at Northwest High School, and I have no doubt she will do the same at Austin Peay.”
Austin Peay Dance Team Coach, Kara Litteral, stated, “I am excited that Lindsay has chosen to continue her dance career at Austin Peay. She is a very talented young lady whose hard work and charisma will be a wonderful asset to this team and university. I look forward to working with her this upcoming season.” Lindsay commented, “I am thrilled to join the Austin Peay Dance Team. I’m excited to gain new experiences as I dance and perform on a collegiate level.”
