CLARKSVILLE, Tenn (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Produced by The Downtown Clarksville Association, First Thursday Art Walk is a free, self-guided tour spanning a five-block radius that combines visual art, live music, engaging events and more in the heart of Downtown Clarksville.

With over 10 venues, bars and businesses participating each month, the First Thursday Art Walk in Clarksville is the ultimate opportunity to savor and support local creative talent.

Art Walk will be held October 3 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the shops and galleries on Public Square, Franklin Street, and Strawberry Alley. Featured artists at each location include:

The Framemaker (705 North Second Street)
New Work: Tracy Bettencourt
Local artist Tracy Bettencourt will hold an open reception for for her new exhibit from 5-8 p.m. The exhibit will remain on display at the Framemaker throughout the month on November during normal business hours.

Bettencourt is the owner/artist of Bettencourt originals. She is an advocate of persons with disabilities, former fitness competitor, motivational speaker and APSU alumni. Though she began to lose her sight in her early 30’s, she continues to live her life to the best of her abilities  and bring new insight to how art is viewed.

The Roxy Regional Theatre – Peg Harvill Gallery (100 Franklin Street)
Peg Harvill Gallery will feature the work of D.C. Thomas in a show titled “Misunderstood.” Works in the show complement the theater’s current production of “Romeo and Juliet.”Visitors can also purchase tickets to the play during the ArtWalk.

Downtown Artists Co-op (96 Franklin Street)
The DAC is proud to announce their Annual Holiday Exhibit and Bazaar, which will feature smaller works of art and affordable prices made my local artists. Pieces for purchase include holiday-inspired cards, ornaments, handmade decorations and mroe.

Journey’s Eye Studio (131 Franklin Street)
Journey’s Eye Studio will host local artist, Larry Phelps. Phelps is a combat veteran and self-taught woodworker who enjoys putting the pieces together to create wall art.

The Customs House Museum (200 S. 2nd Street)
The Customs House Museum and Cultural Center is Tennessee’s second largest general interest museum. It features fine art, history, and children’s exhibits. All of their art exhibits will be open and available to the public during the evening.

Horsefeathers Pottery & Art Studio (94 Franklin Street)

Horsefeathers is a paint your own pottery and canvas studio that encourages guests to discover their inner artist. This month’s ArtWalk will feature Elena Hadjiandrieou, an employee at Horsefeathers and recent addition to the Clarksville community.

Edward’s Steakhouse (107 Franklin Street)
Edward’s Steakhouse is proud host various High School art students including Ayanna Gonzalez, Jessica Trull and Jalissa Nichols of Northeast High School.

City of Clarksville: Parks & Recreation (102 Public Square)
Clarksville’s Parks & Recreation will be hosting the local artist, Symphony Medley, a Jamaican-American regional artist. Medley’s work focuses on large scale work about Jamaican culture, including painting and printmaking.
